After creating a new return or opening an existing return, this the StudioTax main page:

  1. Loaded Returns: you can open/load more than one return at the same time. Here you can see list of currently loaded/opened return in StudioTax. To switch from one return to another you can just select it from this tree view.
  2. Print Return: use this button to print your return. You can also generate a pdf from here.
  3. Quick Start wizard: start the wizard from here to see and/or edit any information you entered in the wizard.
  4. Forms tab: You can jump from one for to another using the forms tab. The forms tab will contain the federal or provincial forms depending on the active Main tab (13).
  5. Validate Return: you can check if your return contains any error using the Validate tool. The error or information message will be displayed in the messages area (10).
  6. Add/Remove forms: use this button to add and/or remove any form. Adding a form does not mean it will be used by the software unless it is filled. Also removing a form does not mean it will not be used if the content of the form is not cleared.
  7. Netfile/Refile Return: use this button to start the Netfile wizard to transmit your return. After transmitting the return, the label will change to ‘Refile’ in case you will need to amend the return later.
  8. Software Activation: Use this button to open the software activation window, enter your licence key and activate StudioTax.
  9. Forms/Tslips tree view: another easy way to navigate between forms and tslips.
  10. Error/info Message: the result of the validation started using the Validate button (5) will be displayed in this area.
  11. Remaining returns: As per CRA requirement, you can only create 20 return per computer. This counter will change everyt ime you create a new return or you change the SIN or an existing return.
  12. Filling status: here you can see if the return was transmitted to CRA or not. If it was transmitted, the confirmation number and the date of the transmission will be displayed.
  13. Main tab: will allow you to open the federal forms, provincial forms or the Tslips.
